Shirley M. Cranmer

Shirley M. Cranmer, 80, of Williamsport passed away Friday, Nov. 25, 2016, at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.          Born in Lock Haven, Aug. 27, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Lester L. and Miriam D. (Lannan) Cranmer.

Shirley was a graduate of the Jersey Shore Senior High School and Lock Haven University; she received a Master’s Degree in Education from Penn State University. Shirley had been employed as a second grade teacher for over 30 years; she taught in the Lose and Cochran Elementary schools and retired from the Williamsport Area School District.

Shirley was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, the Salvation Army Auxiliary and the Pennsylvania State and Lycoming County School Retirees Association. Shirley was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Williamsport, actively participating in the United Women’s group there. She was also a member of the seniors group known as Grand Friends.

Shirley is survived by her sister, Martha (David) Mitchell of Jersey Shore; a niece, Susan (Jeff) Lundy; a nephew, Scott (Molly) Mitchell; two great-nephews, Dylan and Andrew; and three great-nieces, Cheyenne, Ellanor and Abigail.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving cat companion “Frisky.”

There will be a visitation Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016, 5 to 7 p.m. at Maneval Allen Redmond Funeral Home, Ltd., 500 W. Fourth St., Williamsport. Funeral services will be at First United Methodist Church, 604 Market St., Williamsport, at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016, with a one-hour visitation before the service. Pastor D. G. Giordano will officiate.
