Marian E. Nihart

Marian E. Nihart, 85, a resident of the Susque-View Home, Lock Haven, formerly of 224 Kennedy Ave., Mill Hall, passed on to be with her Lord Nov. 29, 2016, at Susque-View following a lengthy and progressive illness.

Born Dec. 18, 1930, in Duncansville, she was the daughter of the late Delmont F. and Eva K. Yearick Lowery.

Raised in Salladasburg, she was a 1948 graduate of the Jersey Shore High School. Following her graduation from high school she worked for the U. S. Postal Service in Salladasburg.

On May 7, 1955, she married Glen B. Nihart in the Mt. Bethel United Church of Christ. The family then moved to Mill Hall where she remained for more than 50 years. Glenn died April 8, 2004.

Marian was a very active member of the Mt. Bethel United Church of Christ where she sang in the choir, enjoyed  children’s Sunday School and participated in special programs.

She served several terms as a Mill Hall Borough auditor and was most recognized as a school crossing guard at the corner of Church and Water streets in Mill Hall. She worked almost 10 years as a crossing guard.

Marian was a member of the Auxiliary of the Beech Creek American Legion Post #623 where she served many years as president. She particularly enjoyed participation in the auxiliaries float in the Beech Creek Memorial Day parade.

She is survived by one daughter, Jeanne N. (Edwin J. Jr.) Blesh of Lock Haven.

She was preceded in death by her only sister, Clara Jean Vaughn.

A funeral service honoring the life of Marian E. Nihart will be held Monday, Dec. 5, 2016, at 11 a.m. in the Dean K. Wetzler, Jr. Funeral Home, 320 Main St., Mill Hall, with her pastor Cindy Killinger officiating.

Friends will be received Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016, from 7-9 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven.
