Mildred E. Long

Mildred E. Long, 93, a resident of the Susque-View Home, Lock Haven, formerly of 102 N. Water St., Mill Hall, died Jan. 10, 2017, at Susque-View.

Born July 23, 1923, in Mill Hall, she was a daughter of the late Edward W. and Grace Killinger Bridgens.

On April 25, 1942, in Lock Haven, she married Thomas R. Long, who died July 21, 1966.

Mildred was a graduate of the former Mill Hall High School and had attended the Mill Hall Church of Christ. She was a member of the Women of the Moose Lodge #100 and the Ladies Auxiliary of V.F.W. Post 1630, both of Lock Haven, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Volunteer Fire Co. of Mill Hall.

Mildred enjoyed ceramics and crocheting.

She had worked as a cook at the former Holiday Inn of Lamar, the Lock Haven Moose and the Cottage Restaurant.

She is survived by four daughters, Verna E. (James) Van Dyne of Coshocton, Ohio, Sandra L. (Verlin) Thomas of Belleville, Kan., Kay F. Leathers of Centre Hall and Shelia A. Sementelli of Mill Hall; one son, Robert E. Long of Castanea; one half-sister, Ruthie Reber of Cogan Station; 25 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Thomas R. Long, Jr.; two sisters, Shirley Alteri and Gladys Laterman; one brother, Edward W. Bridgens, Jr.; one half-brother, Robert Heim; and four grandchildren.

A graveside service to honor the life of Mildred E. Long will be held at the convenience of the family at the Fairview Cemetery, Renovo.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Volunteer Fire Co. of Mill Hall through the funeral home.
