Dorothy ‘Dottie’ Geary Haywood Rhinehart

Born on Dec. 9, 1931, in Loganton, she was the daughter of the late Oliver and Ida Geary.

She married Earl F. Rhinehart on Dec. 22, 1972, who survives. She lived her entire life in Sugar Valley where she was a member of the Albright United Methodist Church, the U.M. Women’s Society and also served as a worship Liturgist.

Dottie was a 1972 graduate of the Centre County Vo-Tech School as a Licensed Practical Nurse and upon completion of her studies she went to work for Susque-View Nursing Home in Lock Haven for 27 1/2 years as a charge nurse and medication nurse, a job she dearly loved; however, she had to choose early retirement due to health issues.

She enjoyed reading, embroidery, crocheting, bowling and being with her family and friends. She was also a caretaker for her 20 1/2-pound cat Martin, and her two outside cats Tilly and Abby.

Dottie is survived by three children, Gary (Suzanne) Haywood of Danville, Debi (Ray) Garverick of Beech Creek and David (Lisa) Haywood of Loganton, and one stepson, Kenneth Rhinehart of Waterville.

She was the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren, Marie, Meredith and Marcy Haywood, Jil, Philip and Heather Garverick and Cainan Haywood; four step-grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter, Emma Grace Lamey; along with many nieces and nephews, and a close friend who she claimed as her adopted daughter, Kathy Dershem.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a daughter, Donna Marie Haywood; a sister, Anna Mae Lehman; three brothers, Harry, John and Jimmie Geary; a step-brother, Percy Fielding; along with many aunts, uncles and cousins of whom she always felt very close.
