Stephen Blair Herrold, 30, of Lock Haven, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday July 20, 2017 in Lock Haven.

He was born on Jan. 24, 1987, and is survived by parents David and Rhonda Miller of Marsh Creek and Steven (Jean) Herrold of Blanchard.

He married Kelly Flynn on May 30, 2015 in Danielsville, Pa. She survives at home.

He was a deputy sheriff for the Clinton Co. Sheriff’s Department. He graduated with honors from the Sheriff’s Academy at Penn State University. He also served as a Corrections Officer for the residents of Clinton County at the Clinton County Correctional Facility.

He was a member of the 3 Point Camp. He loved fishing, hunting and golfing. He especially enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews.

He was a proud father to his newborn son Brock who was born on July 10, 2017. He was excited with his role of being a father.

Along with his wife, son and parents, he is survived by three sisters, Stephenie (Justin) Grove of Bellefonte, Leigh (Albert) Miller of Mill Hall, and Wendy Miller of Lock Haven; great-grandmother Ruby G. Butler of Beech Creek; in-laws Richard and Patrice Flynn of Sparta, N.J.; brother and sister-in-law William (Dana) Flynn of Byram Twp., N.J., many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents James and Donna Irvin, and paternal grandmother Phyllis Lucas.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the auditorium at Central Mountain High School, 64 Keystone Central Dr., Mill Hall, with the Rev.William Lansberry officiating. Friends and family will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the school. Burial will be at the Schencks Cemetery in Howard Twp.

In lieu of flowers the family requested contributions be made to Kelly Herrold for a scholarship fund to be set up for their son Brock at Kelly Herrold, c/o Kader-Neff Funeral Home, PO Box 108, Howard, Pa. 16841
