Sharon Marie McCloskey

Sharon Marie McCloskey, 61, of Howard, was called home by our Lord on Aug. 9, 2017, where she was reunited with the love of her life, Wayne. She passed away peacefully at UPMC Montefiore surrounded with the love of her family.

Sharon was born on May 19, 1956, in Lock Haven and was the beloved daughter of Sylvia Jane Ferguson and Fred Yost. On June 4, 1977, she married Wayne R. McCloskey, who preceded her in death on April 19, 2013.

She was a 1974 graduate of Bald Eagle Area High School. She retired in 2009 from the State College Area School District after 25 years.

Sharon was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Audrina, were the light of her life. She enjoyed spending time with them each and every week doing crafts, playing outside, and singing songs. Sharon loved going on cruises, bowling, playing games, puzzles, the grange fair, and was part of the RSVP Pen Pal Program though Howard Elementary School. Sharon had an unwavering faith in God and attended the Brookside Wesleyan Church in Julian.

She is survived by a daughter; Heather (Jody) Harpster of State College, a son; Jason of Wingate, two granddaughters; Kaitlyn and Audrina Harpster, her mother; Jane of Howard, her father; Fred of Bellefonte, a sister; Diane (Dave) Lomison of Bellefonte, a step-brother; Barry (Alice) of Somerset, a step-brother; Mike Yost of Beech Creek, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sharon touched many lives during her lifetime and she will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Friends and family will be received from 6 – 9 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017, at the Brookside Wesleyan Church, 403 Bush Hollow Road, Julian. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Aug. 14, 2017, at 10 a.m. at the church, with the Rev. Mike Fisher and Bo King officiating. Burial will be at the Schencks Cemetery in Howard.
