Dorothy M. ‘Dot’ Thiel

Dorothy M. “Dot” Thiel, 93, of Woodward Meadows, Lock Haven, passed away Sept 9, 2017 at the Lock Haven Hospital.

Dot was born in Lock Haven, May 22,1924 to the late Walter and Hazel McCloskey King. She was preceded in death by her husband, George H. Thiel, Sept. 27, 1984.

Dorothy was a 1942 graduate of the Lock Haven High School and had worked for Kyle’s Dairy for a number of years. She had been very active with the Lock Haven American Legion, Women of the Moose, American Heart Association and had been a member of the Lock Haven ad Jersey Shore Senior Citizen clubs. Dorothy enjoyed dancing and had done so for over 23 years, she was also an avid hugger to everyone she knew.

Survivors include one son, Jeffrey (Sharon) Thiel of Elysburg; one daughter, Joyce (Charles) Vincent of Linden; two grandchildren, Jared C. (Sara) Thiel and Jennifer Linberg; three great grandchildren, Kayla and Glenn Linberg and Christian Conrad Von Thiel, and one great-great-grandson, Connor Paul Linberg. Also surviving is one brother, Walter “Clair” (Patricia) King of Bellefonte, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Dot was preceded in death by her husband, George; one son, Jack Thiel, and her brother Elery King.

Funeral services for Dorothy M. Thiel will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017 at noon in the Yost-Gedon Funeral Home & Cremation Services LLC, 121 W. Main St., Lock Haven, Pa. Officiating will be Pastor Patty Dodds of St. Luke’s United Church of Christ.

Family and friends will be received in the funeral home one hour prior the services. Interment will be in the Rest Haven Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Luke’s United Church of Christ, 1175 W. Fourth St., Lock Haven, or the American Heart Association, 1704 Warren Ave., Williamsport, Pa.
