Gladys Margarite Peters

Gladys Margarite Adams Peters, 93, of Lock Haven passed away Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017, at Haven Skilled Rehabilitation and Nursing, Lock Haven.

Born on May 6, 1924, in Lock Haven, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Grace Elizabeth Miller Adams.

Gladys was a 1942 graduate of Lock Haven High School.

She was married to LeRoy William Peters, Sr., who preceded her in death.

Early in life, Gladys was employed by Piper Aircraft. In 1951, along with her husband, they established L.W. Peters Disposal Service.

She was a member of St. Luke’s United Church of Christ.

Surviving are three sons, LeRoy William (Ann) Peter Jr. of Beech Creek, Steven (Letty) Peters of Naperville, Ill., and Ron (Amy) Peters of Lock Haven; two sisters-in-law, Janet (Gene) Eberhart and Maxine (Harv) Thomas; six grandchildren, Eric Peter, Kristy Hendricks, Rebecca Peter, Jennifer Casey, Christopher Peters and Sara Peters; 12 great-grandchildren, Garrett and Lily Hendricks, Liam and Bella Peter, Cannon, Chalmers, Cotton and Clement Peters, Aurelia Sterling, Logan and Mitchell Dobbs, and Kaitlyn Casey; and two special friends, Pat Snyder and Tonya Orwick.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Sophie; two sisters, Dorothy Lucas and Katherine Heverly; and a daughter-in-law, Yvonne Peters.

A funeral service for Gladys will be held on Monday, Sept. 18, 2017, at noon at St. Luke’s United Church of Christ, 1175 W. Fourth St., Lock Haven with Rev. Patty Dodds officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park.

Friends and family will be received at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Memorial contributions in Gladys’ name may be made to St. Luke’s United Church of Christ through the funeral home.
