Harold E. ‘Hezzy’ Zimmerman

Harold E. “Hezzy” Zimmerman, 89, of Snydertown, passed away on Friday, Sept. 22, 2017, in Bellefonte.

He was born in Elton, Pa., on Dec. 9, 1927, a son of the late Melvin and Jane Hedlund Zimmerman.

On June 14, 1953, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Patricia Miller. She survives at their home.

“Hezzy” was a self-employed plastering contractor for many years until his retirement. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a radio technician during World War II.

He was a graduate of Walker Township High School.

‘Hezzy” was a lifetime member of the Walker Township Fire Co., and was a member of the Midnight Motorcycle Club. He was an avid Harley rider, logging over one million miles on his cycles over the years since 1963, when he purchased his first Harley. He also enjoyed cutting firewood and time spent at the river lot in Lock Haven.

Along with his wife he is survived by a son, Robin ( Deb) Zimmerman of Snydertown; a daughter-in-law, Kathleen Zimmerman of Spring Mills; two sisters, Lois Seat and Lucille Sheffield both of Nashville, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Marshall, Kasi, Deanna and Alex; and three great-grandchildren, Savilla, Cooper and Nolan; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded by a son, Kevin Zimmerman; a brother, Melvin Zimmerman Jr.; and a great-grandson, Layne Kevin Zimmerman.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Sept. 25, 2017, at 10 a.m. at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home, 135 W. Main St., Howard, with Pastor Dan Christopher officiating.

Friends will be received on Sunday, Sept. 24 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Zion cemetery with military rites.
