Faye E. Bechdel
Faye E. Bechdel, 96, of Beech Creek passed away at her home in Beech Creek on Monday, Nov. 5, 2017 with her family by her side.
She was born in Orviston on Sept. 8, 1921, a daughter of the late Clair and Hannah Confer. She was united in marriage to Leland Bechdel. He preceded her in death on Nov. 19, 1967.
Faye was a private duty housekeeper in the area for many years, as well as a homemaker.
She was a wonderful baker and enjoyed baking for family and friends. She was a member of the Beech Creek Wesleyan Church, and she enjoyed playing bingo. Her greatest enjoyment came from time spent with her family.
She is survived by a son, Leland (Amy) Bechdel Jr. of Beech Creek, and three daughters, Viola Clukey of Beech Creek, Joanne “Judy” (Bill) Saar of Lock Haven, and Rebecca (Larry) LaVelle of Beech Creek. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 23 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded by a daughter, Virginia Hummel, and five brothers, Frank, Ernest, Darell, Lawrence, and her twin, Raymond, and a sister Priscilla Haines. She was also predeceased by her grandson Billy Saar and a great-grandson Tylor Gray.
She is also survived by her special cat “Angel.”
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Nov. 9 at 11 a.m. at Beech Creek Wesleyan Church, with Rev. Alan S. Eckenroad officiating. Friends will be received at the church Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Burial will be at Schencks Cemetery, Howard.
