Phyllis M. Genua
Phyllis M. Genua, 88, of Bellefonte, went home to be with the Lord on Nov. 7, 2017 at Hearthside Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born on May 18, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Angelo and Catherine (Pizzuta) Genua.
Phyllis worked for and retired from Bellefonte Area School District.
She was survived by many nieces and nephews, and a very loving, kind and caring friend, Kimberly Stimer.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Jane Genua-Hazel, and five brothers, Ralph Genua, Raymond Genua, Bobby Genua, Frank Genua and Johnny Genua.
She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church. Phyllis loved her cat named “Porch Cat.” She enjoyed gardening and walking around town. All that knew her heard her all the time saying, “Don’t work yourself to death!” She loved all her family and friends. Phyllis had a heart to make donations to animal shelters and cancer societies.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, Nov. 10, 2017 from 9-10 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church, 134 Bishop St., Bellefonte. Mass will be held at the church at 10 a.m. with Father George Jakopac officiating. Burial will immediately follow at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Bellefonte.
