Richard P. Smith

Richard P. “Dick” “Smitty” Smith, 84, of Lock Haven passed away Monday, Nov. 6, 2017 at his home.

Born on July 24, 1933 in Lock Haven, he was the son ofthe late Carlton and Ethel Paul Smith.

After graduating from Lock Haven High School in 1951, he joined the United States Army serving during the Korean War.

Smitty was employed as a truck driver before working at Lock Haven University in the Maintenance Department until his retirement.

Along with his companion of 50 years, Lucille Bowes, he enjoyed camping and was a member of North 40 Campground for 40 years.

Smitty could often be found joking around with his family. He also loved his four-legged buddy, Missy the poodle.

In addition to his companion, Lucille Bowes of Lock Haven, he is survived by his sister-in-law, Linda Streck of Flemington; his niece, Sonia (Greg) Gummo and her children, Mary, Greg Jr., Kayla, and Corey of Loganton; and three nephews, Rick (Andrea) Schreckengast of Beech Creek, Joe (Tracey) Schreckengast and family of Mill Hall, and Kevin (Kathy) Schreckengast and family of Beech Creek.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Thomas Streck.

Funeral services will be held at the convenience of his family.
