Damaris E. Irvin

Damaris E. Irvin, 94, 923 Eagle Valley Road, Beech Creek, died Nov. 29, 2017, at the Hearthside Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, State College.

Born April 10, 1923, in Benner Township, Centre County, she was the daughter of the late Budd Cleveland and Martha V. Resides Benner. On April 9, 1944, in Pleasant Gap, she married Leslie B. Irvin who died April 15, 2007.

Damaris was a very active member of the Bald Eagle United Presbyterian Church in Mill Hall, having served as deacon and the treasurer of the Sunday school. She was well known for her cake baking abilities. Damaris also enjoyed crafting and annually she provided the Advent wreath in her church. She was also a member of the Pa. Grange. Earlier in her life she had worked at Sylvania in Mill Hall, and she also helped her husband and son in the operation of their farm.

Survivors include two daughters, D. Joanne (Ray) Blyer of Fredericksburg, Pa., and Mary Olive “Missy” (Wesley) Lomison of Orviston; one son, Roland L. (Donna) Irvin of Beech Creek; one sister, Sarah Lynette Benner of Bellefonte; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia Zellers; and four brothers, Blaine, Charles, Linn and Budd Benner, Jr.

A graveside service and interment will be held at the convenience of the family in the Hayes-Fearon Cemetery, Beech Creek, with her Pastor Susan Champion and Pastor Alan Eckenroad officiating. There will be no public visitation.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bald Eagle United Presbyterian Church or the Hearthside Center through the funeral home.
