Freida M. Jacobs

Freida M. Jacobs, 87, of Castanea passed away Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017 at Susque View Home, Lock Haven.

Born on Oct. 14, 1930 in State College, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur L. and Sarah Summers Spicer.

She was a 1948 graduate of State College High School.

On May 20, 1950 she married Robert K. Jacobs with whom she celebrated 67 years of marriage.

Freida was employed by Penn State University and then at Crissman’s Meat Packing as a bookkeeper.

She was a member of the Red Hat Society.

Freida enjoyed doing ceramics, but most important to her was spending time with her family– especially at family gatherings.

In addition to her husband, Robert K. Jacobs of Castanea, she is survived by two sons, Robert “Rube” (Teresa) Jacobs and Bradley “Buck” (Karen) Jacobs, both of Castanea; a daughter, Cynthia Jacobs Koch of Boalsburg; two brothers, Bradley Spicer of Baton Rouge, La. and Michael Spicer of Boalsburg; six grandchildren, Stephanie Zerby, Amy Jacobs, Rebecca Hosler, Tara Jacobs, Adam Jacobs, and Aaron Jacobs; eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Wilbur Spicer Jr., Roy Spicer and Glenn Spicer, and three sisters, Rena McCracker, Betty Styers and Barbara Smitley.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, with Father Dan Selvage officiating. Private burial will be held at Linnwood Cemetery.

Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service.
