Jay A. Brungard
Jay A. Brungard, 68, of Dunnstown passed to the heavenly farm on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017, after decades of walking the fields and hunting the woods at the family farm.
Born on Feb. 24, 1949, in Lock Haven, he was the son of Rodgers H. and Jean L. Mauck Brungard.
Jay was a 1967 graduate of Lock Haven High School.
He then served in the United States Army from 1968 until 1972 after which he attended Nathaniel Hawthorne College, graduating with a degree in business administration.
By trade, Jay was a computer programmer.
He was a member of the Salona Lutheran Church.
Jay was an active member of the Southern Clinton County Sportsmens Association, the Bald Eagle Rifle League, and the local camera and coin clubs. He also participated in the Lock Haven High School Class of ’67 activities.
He was a competitive shooter and impacted the lives of many youth by teaching them the skill of shooting.
Jay enjoyed photography as well as coin collecting.
Surviving is his mother, Jean L. Brungard of Rote; a son, Richard (Jennifer) Brungard of Wernersville; a daughter, Tess (Jason) Wittler of Richmond, Va.; a brother, Randy (Nicole) Brungard of Marsh Creek; a sister, Linda (Kenneth) Hinton of Rote; and three grandchildren: Keyland, Collin and Christopher.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rodgers H. Brungard.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, at 2 p.m. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, with Rev. Russell Moldovan officiating. Private burial will take place at Schenck’s Cemetery, Howard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Southern Clinton County Sportsmens Association, 55 S. Sportsmans Road, Loganton, Pa. 17747, to promote youth in the outdoors.
