Ronald Charles Mapstone
Ronald Charles Mapstone, 88, of Lock Haven, passed away peacefully at home on Nov. 28, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.
The son of James and Elizabeth Mapstone, he is predeceased by his parents, his sisters Evelyn Lynn, Mary Brown, Beatsy Dale; brothers, James and A. Blaine.
He is survived by his loving and loyal wife of 70 years Anna Marie (Randecker), his children; Jeffrey (Linda) of Rochester, N.Y., Sherry (Ron) Haffley of Lock Haven, Steven of Mill Hall, and his sister Betty Sharpe of Cicero, N.Y.
Pap, as he was known to his family treasured his eight grandchildren, Mark, Craig, David, Lesley, Maria, Michael, Janell, and Christian. He was also blessed with 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
In his work life, “Mappy” was a carpenter by trade, and also worked early on in construction. He spent time building the St. Lawrence Seaway which was a job that he was especially proud to be part of. He spent another 30 years building planes at Piper Aircraft; he worked for Rockwell in Columbus on the B1-B Bomber, and finally finishing up at Schweitzer in N.Y.
He had many life-long friends from work, was a member of the Renowned Black Knights Drum and Bugle Corps and, a proud lifetime member of the local 182 Elks Club. In his free time he enjoyed wood working, hunting and fishing.
Over the last 25 years his real passion was being with his family and learning about what each grandchild was doing and following their pursuits. He travelled all across Pa. and N.Y. watching his kids play sports. He never missed a soccer or lacrosse game. He was known to all, players, coaches, and parents and his wonderful sense of humor would not let you forget him.
Our family would like to thank the nurses at the VNA and other caretakers for their excellent care and comfort they provided over this last year.
In lieu of flowers please support the Shriners Children’s Fund or your favorite charity.
