Albert Haagen

Albert W. Haagen, 86, of Howard, passed away Friday, Jan. 5, 2018 at Health South Nittany Rehabilitation in Pleasant Gap.

He was born on May 7, 1931 in Beech Creek Twp. the son of the late Francis W. & Sarah C. Harris Haagen.

On Sept. 20, 1952 he married the love of his life, Doris A. Confer who survives. They celebrated 65 years of marriage together.

He is survived by three sons, Ben (Mary Ann), Alan (Crystal) and Steve (Sandy) Haagen all of Howard; one daughter, Marjorie (Willis) Ardry of Howard; one sister, Louise H. Johnson of Beech Creek; eight grandchildren, Chad Haagen and Emily Rickard, Rachel McCauley, Jacob and Isaac Haagen, and Wayne, Mark and Tom Ardry, and nine great-grandchildren.

Albert was a member of the Trinity Reform Church of Hublersburg where he served as a Deacon, Elder and Treasurer. He also served on the church Ministry Committee of the Northern Association of the United Church of Christ. He was a life member of the Walker Twp. Fire Co. He was a former member of the Walker Twp. Water Association.

He served on the Centre Co., Extension Committee and was a former committee man of the Farmers Home Administration. He was also a member of the Gideons. Albert was a dairy farmer in Walker Twp. for many years and also worked at Piper Aircraft.

He was a 1949 graduate of Lock Haven High School. He proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict form 1952 – 1954, serving in the anti-aircraft artillery-missile battalion and was a member of the Elite Honor Gurard.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home, 135 Main St., Howard with Pastor Keith Koch officiating.

Friends and family will be received from on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018 from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
