Carolina F. Edwards
Carolina F. Edwards, 80, of Avis, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018 at her home.
Born Sept. 7, 1937 in Endicott, N.Y., she was a daughter to the late George P. and Anna M. (Koshko) Petrak. Also preceding her in death was her loving husband, James P. Edwards, on Jan. 8, 1998; brothers John D. Petrak, Joseph A. Petrak, and George Petrak, Jr.; and sisters Mary Ann Neupart, Julia A. Panasuk and Helen Litz.
Carolina worked at various jobs throughout her life, including Endicott Johnson Shoe Corp. in Endicott for one year, Technical Drafting Co. in Alexandria, Va. for two years, Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone Co. in Washington, D.C. for 14 years, Clinton County Court House in Lock Haven for 21 years and two years at the Jersey Shore State Bank, Mill Hall. She was Pine Creek Twp. auditor for six years; drew up J.F. Kennedy’s inauguration, Martin Luther King’s Freedom March and H. Humphrey’s presidential inauguration.
Carolina belonged to the Jersey Shore Loyal Order of Moose, the Jersey Shore Town Meeting and the Church of Saint Luke in Jersey Shore. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, bingo, garage sales and working for the Walnut Street Church thrift store.
Surviving are her children, Jessica L. Englestead, of Hampton, Va., Bryan K. Edwards, of Avis, and Renee A. Cummings, of Hummelstown, Pa.; and grandchildren Makenna, Morgan, and Caitlin Cummings.
A funeral mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 29 at the Church of Saint Luke, 118 Kendall Ave., Jersey Shore, Pa. 17740. Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, at Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore.
The family suggests memorial contributions in Carolina’s name be made to the Church of Saint Luke.
