James E. Brand

James E. Brand, Jr., 95, a former resident of Lamar passed away Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018, at the Green Home in Wellsboro.

He was born in Kingwood, West Virginia, on Oct. 17, 1922, a son of the late James E. Brand, Sr. and Mary Hazel (Elliott).

James was married on Oct. 31, 2000, to the former Madylon L. Bowmaster who died March 3, 2017.

He worked for Eastern Alcoa in Frederick, Maryland, as a welder retiring in 1985. He was a member of United Lutheran Church.

James was a 33rd Degree Mason and a 50-year member of Elk Branch Lodge #93, Shenandoah Junction, West Virginia.

He enjoyed gardening, especially growing rose bushes.

Surviving are one step-son; Larry Bowmaster of Lamar and a step-daughter; Louise Wyble of Tioga [RW1], two grandsons; Edward and Jason, three step-grandsons and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother Thomas H. Brand and a sister Mary Katherine Cambanes.

A public viewing will be held on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2018, at the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall, from 1 – 2 p.m.

A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Mt. Bethel Cemetery, Mill Hall, with the Rev. Karl Runser will officiating.

A masonic service will be held at 1:45 p.m. by the Lafayette Lodge #199.

Memorial contributions can be made to United Lutheran Church, Lock Haven or the American Cancer Society (Clinton Unit) through the funeral chapel.
