Jon H. ‘Flookie’ Flook
Jon H. “Flookie” Flook, 76, of Salladasburg, passed away late Sunday night Jan. 21, 2018 at Manor Care in Jersey Shore.
He was born in Jersey Shore, Oct. 10, 1941, the son of Harold K. and Martha (Forsburg) Flook.
He graduated from Jersey Shore High School and attended Mansfield University.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran attaining the rank of Corporal. He married the former Patricia M. Rainey on Oct. 3, 1965 and she passed away on Jan. 10, 2015.
He was proprietor of the Western Auto store in Jersey Shore from 1973 until 1985. He was also involved with sales at both Bill Marks Ford and Don Breon Ford outside of Jersey Shore and retired from Susquehanna Transit of Avis in 2017.
Jon enjoyed taking the long way home and was active with many local civic and social groups.
He was a life member of the Jersey Shore VFW, a member of the Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge and American Legion all of Jersey Shore. He was a past member and President of the Salladasburg Boro Council. He was a member of the Salladasburg United Methodist Church.
He was a history buff and enjoyed watching football, the Philadelphia Eagles were his favorite team. He also enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, his motorcycle and loved being with his grandchildren.
Jon’s survivors include his five children, David and Jean Flook, Michael and Barbara Flook, Brian Flook and Jodi and Lloyd Fetzer all local and Michele and Dennis Zink, of Bradenton, Fla.; one sister Carol Ann and Dale Yohe of St. George, Utah; four grandchildren, Robert, Josh, Kyle and Amanda and five step grandchildren, Nick, Zach, Jess, Jennifer and Lisa along with several great grandchildren.
Flookie’s Life Tribute service will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, 2018 at Independent Hose Company 130 Pennsylvania Ave., Jersey Shore, Pa. 17740. Friends and relatives may call at the fire hall from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday.
