Shirley and George Shirk were married on Nov. 4, 1944 at First Baptist Church in Lock Haven. The couple had five of their six children while living in Clinton County.

After 11 years, they finally settled in Unionville where their final child was born.

While raising her family in this small community, Shirley also worked at numerous jobs around town like babysitting, house cleaning, and serving as a school crossing guard. After her children were grown, Shirley went to work at Jostens until her retirement ten years later. She became a faithful member of the New Life Center in Philipsburg, Pa.

One of the things Shirley most enjoyed during her young adult years was roller skating most Sundays at Hecla Park with her sister Betty and their combined broods. She also cherished time visiting with her children, grandchildren, and eventual great-grandchildren. Shirley loved to cook for other people of which she was most famous for ham potpie and macaroni salad.

While she will be greatly missed on this earth, her family rejoices that she is now in her heavenly home.
