He was a great-grandson of John and Anna Blush Wenker, one of the first families to emigrate from Switzerland to Swissdale.
LeRoy was a 1941 graduate of Lock Haven High School.
On Feb. 12, 1943 he married the love of his life, the former Dora Mae Burkett. Soon after that he was inducted into the US Army and served with the 66th Infantry Division in the Northern France Campaign in WWII.

LeRoy and Dora were regular vendors at the local Farmers’ Market from 1946 to 2002; selling garden produce, baked goods and pork products. LeRoy raised and sold Christmas trees for many years, a project he began while in high school.
He enjoyed tracing the family genealogy and had a booklet published with the family history. He also enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and their families.
LeRoy was a member of the Swissdale Evangelical Church for 25 years and then a member of Covenant United Methodist Church in Lock Haven for over 50 years. At Covenant Church, he taught Sunday school classes for young boys and later taught adult Sunday school classes.
