Dr. Randhir Mishra

Dr. Randhir Mishra, 81, of Lock Haven, passed away Saturday April 21, 2018 at the Williamsport Hospital.

He was born Jan. 20, 1937 in Raghunathpur, India, to Janakiraman and Suther (Devi) Mishra.

He was educated in India, trained in the United Kingdom and immigrated to the U.S. He opened his private practice in Beech Creek in 1982 serving the broader community for over 20 years until his retirement in 2003.

Dr. Mishra was a long time active Rotarian, an avid reader, a big tennis fan (especially of Roger Federer) and thoroughly loved the Star Wars series. He enjoyed playing cards and chess, kept up on professional and community events, embraced a good scotch, keenly monitored political activities (especially on CNN) and was well-known for his comprehensive, high-quality, evidence-based, patient directed care.

He was skilled at developing and maintaining relationships, professionally and socially, and developed those relationships not just with his patients, but their families as well. But his most important relationships were built within his family.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Shalu Mishra of Lock Haven; one son, Kash Mishra (Sumita) of Rochester, N.Y.; one daughter, Kiran Smith (Matt) of Needham, Mass.; five beloved grandchildren, Karn Mishra, Shreya Mishra, Jaya Smith, Naiya Smith and Lily Smith; and two sisters, Kamala Singh and Urbija Sinha.

Dr. Mishra was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.

A private service paying tribute to his life was held at the Maneval Allen Redmond Cremation and Funeral Home 500 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, Pa. 17701.
