W. Vance Haagen
W. Vance Haagen, 88, of Milesburg, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 26, 2018, at Mount Nittany Medical Center .
Vance was born on Aug. 11, 1930 in Yarnell, a son of the late Harry and Frances Confer Haagen.
Vance was a 1947 graduate of Bellefonte High School. He was a veteran having served in the US Army.
Vance was a lineman for West Penn Power.
Vance is survived by his wife the former L. Jane Sampsel whom he married April 21, 1995.
He is also survived by his sons, William E. (Mary Ann McDonough) Haagen, of Milesburg, and Randy L. (Lisa) Haagen, of Port Matilda; his daughter, Leslie A. Dubbs, of Mill Hall, and his step-daughter, Cathy Rudd, of Bellefonte; his sister, Shirley McCloskey, of Yarnell.
Also surviving are his grandchildren Michelle Haagen, Craig Haagen, Amanda Haagen, Tiffany Dubbs, Rachel Dubbs; his step-grandchildren, Pat McDonough, Ryan MacNamara, Collin MacNamara, Amelia Benner and Deloss Rudd; one great-grandchild and two step great-grandchildren.
Vance was of the Methodist faith.
He was an avid hunter, he also enjoyed gardening, canning and grafting of fruit trees.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Tony and Frances Little for their many acts of kindness over the years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife B. Jane Haagen on March 18, 1982; his brothers, James Joseph Haagen, Jerome Haagen, Richard Haagen, Neil Haagen and his sisters, Jeanette Robinson, Winifred Kozicky, Relda Breon, Wilda Haagen, Jean Abbott and Doris Haagen.
Family and friends will be received at the Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, 201 Spring St., Milesburg, on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2018 at 11 a.m. at The Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, with Pastor Douglas W. Mellott, officiating.
Burial will be in Crown Crest Cemetery, Clearfield, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Yarnell United Methodist Church, 1216 Runville Rd., Bellefonte, Pa. 16823, in memory of W. Vance Haagen.
