Melvin L. Leathers
Melvin L. Leathers, 92, of Lock Haven, died, Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018 at his residence.
He was born Jan. 30, 1926 in Salona a son of the late Walter Letterman, Sr. and Ruth (Wert).
Melvin was married 65 years to the former Margaret I. Hanna. She preceded him in death June 1, 2011.
He worked as a police officer for the city of Lock Haven and retired as a corrections officer for the Clinton County Correctional Facility in 1988.
He was a veteran of WWII where he served in the Marine Corp. in the South Pacific.
Surviving are two daughters, Judy A. Schneider of Rochester, N.Y., and Linda K. Neff of Albuquerque, N.M., also five grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
He is survived by a companion Peg Lapriola of Lock Haven, and a sister-in-law Gert Leathers of Salona, and also two sisters Helen Chapman of Georgetown, Del., and Betty Lou Swope of Florida.
Melvin was preceded in death by a daughter Joan F. Falk.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 17, 2018 at the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall with the Rev. Dennis Smith officiating. Friends and relatives will be received one hour prior to the service.
Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Clinton County SPCA, 33 Mill Hill Rd., Lock Haven, Pa. 17745. Burial will be private at Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven.
