William W. VanOrden

William “Bill” W. VanOrden, 72, of Bellefonte, formerly from Mansfield, Pa., went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Nov. 2, 2018. Born on Sept. 24, 1946, in Honesdale, Pa., he was the son of the late Wesley and Louise A. (Stanton) Van Orden.

On August 26, 1972, he married the love of his life, Carol A. (Chamberlain) Van Orden, who survives him at home in Bellefonte. Bill treasured the company of his wife of 46 years, children, grandchildren and family and friends.

After graduating Mansfield High School, Bill enlisted in the US Navy where he served as a Machinist Mate on the USS Essex. After his time in the Navy, Bill returned to Pennsylvania where he served the Commonwealth as a State Trooper for 26 years. He was a member of the State Police Rodeo Team. Upon retirement from the Commonwealth, he worked with the Walker Township Authority and Centre County Sheriff’s Department.

In addition to his wife, Carol, he is survived by three children, Courtney A. (Troy) Krout, William W. (Carrie) Van Orden, II, and Travis J. (Megan) Van Orden, all of Bellefonte; eight grandchildren, Wesley Krout, Daniel Robson, Chelsea Robson, Megan Robson, Jackson Van Orden, Charlotte Grace Van Orden, Katelyn Van Orden, and Abigail Van Orden. Also surviving is one brother, Terrance P. (Lynn) Van Orden, of Mansfield.

Bill was a member of First Baptist Church of Bellefonte. Additionally, he was a member of the American Legion Post 867, Pleasant Gap.

Friends will be received on Sunday, Nov. 11, from 1-2 p.m. at First Baptist Church at 539 Jacksonville Road, Bellefonte. Memorial services will immediately follow at 2 p.m. at the church with Pastor Greg Shipe officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
