Elwood C. Hocker, Jr.
Elwood C. “Skip” Hocker, Jr., 72, of 26 Irish Lane, Lock Haven, passed away at the Gatehouse Hospice, Williamsport, on Tuesday, June 18, 2019.
He was born in Lancaster County on Aug. 1, 1946 to Elwood C. and Anna Mary Zieger Hocker, Sr.
Skip was a graduate of the Lampeter-Strasburg High School and Franklin & Marshall College. He served in Vietnam with the U.S. Navy. Skip retired from the Lock Haven Police Department as Chief of police and had also served as a detective of Lancaster City Police, as well as chief of West Hempfield Township.
Skip was a member of the Manheim Masonic Lodge #587 and Lock Haven Lafayette Lodge #199. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.
Skip was united in marriage June 10, 1984, to Tina M. Elliott, who survives at home. Also surviving is a son, Jack (Ruth) Hocker, of Lancaster, Pa.; a daughter, Shannon Will, of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; a sister, Julie Newcomer, of Columbia, Pa.; and five grandchildren, Madison Will, Teddy Will, Adam Will, Taylor (Austin) Hare, and Zachary Hocker.
Memorial services with full military honors for Elwood C. “Skip” Hocker, Jr. will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at 11 a.m. in Yost-Gedon Funeral Home & Cremation Services, LLC. 121 W. Main St., Lock Haven. Officiating will be Rev. Laura King, of the Caldwell United Methodist Church. Family and friends will be received in the funeral home Tuesday one hour prior to services. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Skip’s name to the Caldwell United Methodist Church, in care of Carol Kaler, 494 Hollow Road, Lock Haven, Pa. 17745.
