Helen Marie Marconi
Helen Marie Marconi, 91, of 1796 Coudersport Pike, Lock Haven passed peacefully at home on Friday, June 7, 2019 surrounded by her family.
Helen was born at the family homestead near Swissdale, on Aug. 13, 1927 to the late Donald and Irene Keiffer Weise where she grew up with her two sisters and one brother on the family farm.
Helen graduated from Lock Haven High School in 1945. Helen was united in marriage Jan. 3, 1948 to the late Anthony A. Marconi who passed away Dec. 29, 1985.
After graduating from high school, she was a secretary at Piper Aircraft. After marriage she became a homemaker, raising five children and one nephew.
Helen worked part time as a bookkeeper for the family business, Marconi’s Service Station. She was an active, lifelong member of the Swissdale United Methodist Church.
Helen was the church pianist and organist from the age of 13 until her retirement in 2016, playing for a total 75 years.
Most of Helen’s interests centered on her family and her church. She sang in the church choir, was a Sunday School Teacher, served on the Administrative Board, played the organ for many weddings and funerals, and always lent a helping hand in cooking and serving church dinners, as well as making homemade soups and ice cream.
Music was a very important part of Helen’s life starting with being in the Varsity Choir at Lock Haven High School. She and her sister Ruth performed locally and many times Helen played the accordion and was a guest singer with the Green Valley Haymakers.
Helen liked to travel with family and friends, traveling as far away as Germany, Spain and visited most of the United States. She was a member of the Swissdale “Fishing Ladies” Club, taking fishing trips yearly for many years.
Helen is survived by four children, Sharon (Cris) Crislip, of Fredricksburg, Va., Dennis (Terina) Marconi, Thomas Marconi, both from Lock Haven, Steven (Kim) Marconi, of Mill Hall, and her nephew, George (Cathy) Brooks, Snowshoe.
She is also survived by her brother, Donald (Janet) Weise, eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and loving, longtime caregiver, Namoi Milton.
Helen was predeceased by her parents, her husband Anthony in 1985, her son Philip Marconi in 2017, her grandson Jeffrey Merrifield in 2010, and her sisters Ruth Lucas and Ethel Miller.
Friends and family will be received at the Swissdale United Methodist Church, 974 E. Croak Hollow Rd., Lock Haven, Pa. 17745, for visitation on Tuesday, June 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Swissdale Church on Wednesday, June 12 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jay Saldana officiating.
Interment will be in the St. Agnes Cemetery. Arrangements are being made by Yost-Gedon Funeral Home & Cremation Services, LLC., 121 W. Main St., Lock Haven.
