There’s no middle ground

By KALEB M. DANIELS

The country is split whether you are Democrat or a Republican.

There is no middle ground.

There were fights in the street when President Donald Trump won the election. It was the combatant left versus the right.

To some people, if you support President Trump you are a racist/bigot and anti-people.

If you supported Hillary Clinton, you supported high taxes, high regulation and more.

But there is a silent middle ground who never speaks, not even in elections.

There is the middle ground where Democratic and Republican ideals meet.

It’s surprising to hear this in 2019 isn’t it?

There are those people who are on the fence on everything from gay marriage to health care. I am pro-gay marriage and pro-life. You would never really hear that from a “Republican.”

I say that in quotations because I call myself a Republican, mainly because it follows my ideas more than the Democrats. I hate the current state of the democratic ideals. As well as some Republican ideals. I agree with lower taxes but I do believe in healthcare regulations. To me the Combatant Left is using a 5-year-old mentality. “I don’t want to take a bath, so I’m not going to.” That is the mentality of the vocal, combatant left. That is the same with Republicans and the right as well.

For a good example, I will use the Kavanaugh hearing that happened about three month ago. The Democrats couldn’t veto his nomination based on merit. So what does Senator Feinstein and the Democrats do? They use the narrative, Kavanaugh allegedly sexually assaulted a women in High School. That was Feinstein and the Democrats fighting tactics. I find it very fitting after Democrats and the combatant left painted him as a frat boy because of his name being Brett. Democrats promised before his nomination was announced that they would stop President Trump’s nominee at all cost. This is a prime example of Combatant Left.

Let’s take in to account the 2018-2019 shutdown. President Trump wants money for a border that will keep Americans safe. He even stated in a national address it will include more than a concrete barrier. The President even states it would be made of steel at the Democrats request. The Democrats turn this situation, denying facts that were given. They said to end the shutdown and stop calling it a crisis on the southern border. Put this into perspective, a unwanted person is trying to make entry into your house. You leave the door wide open.

Will he get in?

The answer is yes.

Do you want him to?

No. This is the same premises with a wall on our southern border.

In my opinion Trump has made smart choices for the conservatives out there. Not only conservatives but the economy as well (which is good for everyone.) From record highs to huge day drops.

I may be a supporter of Trump but I can still critique him. If you have nothing bad to say about a candidate you are not well-informed about them. There were people on election night that wanted nothing besides Hillary as president and couldn’t explain why. They we’re told Trump = Bad, Hillary = Savior. This is how modern-day media is being used as a weapon to mind control our own people. CNN, the hub of liberal media, said that USA Today should have never published a Donald Trump op-ed. They said that it was just because he was president they didn’t vet his article.

We know if Hillary would post an op-ed it would go up on CNN, MSNBC and Fox News, all of which were, in my opinion, credible before the 2016 election campaign began.

Fox isn’t any better when it comes to love for the Republican Party. Post 2016 elections it has been “vote Republican, vote Republican.”

I don’t disagree, but it would be nice to have at least two nonpartisan news sources.

The media is a huge reason America is divided so greatly.

People are listening to views of other people rather than thinking for themselves.

Partisan news is only serving to deepen our divide.

If WE THE PEOPLE keep dealing with this group mentality – and not take individual responsibility to think for ourselves and find some common ground – we cannot heal as a country. If we think back to the birth of our nation it was chaos. The nation was divided between Democratic-Republicans, Federalists and anti-Federals.

There was no middle ground … none at all. We are repeating history, which goes against the quote by George Santayana that we should never forget, “Those who cannot remember the past are doomed to repeat it.”

This is the quote every person should think about when they get into politics. History is what saves us from the hell that America was before.

This very well could be the end of the American experiment. I know people don’t like history because it is “boring” or is “old things I don’t need to know.” As funny as it may sound, that is how people think. But if we don’t learn from the past, we don’t know what got us here. We are doomed to repeat.

This is coming from a 17-year-old high schooler. I find it funny that those who are younger see the political mind games the news is using.

“You are with me or not, there is no middle ground.” Will I vote for Trump in 2020? As of now yes, until a better candidate comes along he has my vote. I might even vote for a Democrat depending on the views they have.
