Take time to vote, please
Voting precincts opened at 7 a.m. this morning in Pennsylvania.
Are you registered to vote and have you scheduled a time to vote?
Meanwhile, today’s Primary Election is a closed election in Pennsylvania for anyone who is not registered as a Republican or Democrat.
What a shame.
This prevents literally thousands of people registered as Independents, Libertarians, Green Party or other members from voting because of Pennsylvania’s insistence of such a primary system.
Even in little old Clinton County, where nearly 3,000 people who are registered cannot vote because they are not Republicans or Democrats.
OK, so remember last fall when turnout in Clinton and surrounding counties came in around 75 percent due to the presidential election?
This time around? We predict 25 percent … or worse. Prove us wrong.
Letters to the Editor
We love letters to the editor. We want people to “Express” themselves and we encourage it through the publication of letters to the editor. However, when it comes to candidate endorsement letters, we impose a deadline a full 10 to 14 days in advance of the election for receiving them so we do not end up with tons of such letters at the last minute before the election.
This primary was no different.
We’ve received a bunch of endorsement letters in the past week, but they came in past the deadline.
We’re sorry if you didn’t see it, but that deadline was announced in the paper for three weeks prior, and appears below again so that our dear readers understand why their last-minute endorsement letter has not appeared.
