Sacrifice

RICHARD TOBIN

Wellsboro

No Donald Trump, working hard is not sacrifice, it’s what we all do if we want to get ahead. You don’t create jobs to help people; you hire people to increase your profits. Going to a military-themed high school does not count as service to your country. You don’t make America great by having the products you sell made in other countries.

Sacrifice is defined as an unselfish act of giving up something you want to keep to help or protect others. Capt. Humayun Kahn knew what sacrifice is; he gave up his life for others.

It makes no difference if someone else wrote what Khizr Kahn said or if he wrote it himself. As an American citizen and Gold Star father, he has the right to say whatever he wants to. Mr. Kahn is right when he says that you have sacrificed nothing and no one.

By ascribing Ghazala Kahn’s silence to some imagined Islamic oppression, you tried to make political points at the expense of this Gold Star mother’s grief. Your ignorance knows no bounds. You don’t know the meaning of shame; you probably can’t spell it either.
