A new low from the man at the top
Our president has hit a new low this past week with his blaming the Florida school shooting on the Russia investigation. When most of the anti-gun control folks at least have the decency to say no more than “this is not the time,” and at least offer up their “thoughts and prayers,” our president politicizes it and makes it all about himself.
Listen to the students who survived the shooting:
r “17 of my classmates are gone. That’s 17 futures, 17 children, and 17 friends stolen. But you’re right, it always has to be about you. How silly of me to forget. #never again.”
r “17 innocent people were brutally murdered at my school … and you have the audacity to put this on Russia as an excuse.”
” … my friends were brutally murdered and you have the nerve to make this about Russia.”
If you were not offended by the mocking of a disabled reporter, by the blatant as well as implied racism (“fine people on both sides”), by the misogyny (“Access Hollywood” tape), by the corruption (his businesses profiting from his position), or by the fact that our president is not defending our democracy against the Russian cyber-attack, not to mention the near-daily barrage of lies, the crudeness and vulgarity of his remarks, and the seeming inability to apologize or take responsibility for anything … the list could go on. Is exploiting the Florida school shooting to cast doubt … once again … on the Muller investigation OK with you?
“Very sad that the FBI missed all of the many signals sent out by Florida school shooter. This is not acceptable. They are spending too much time trying to prove Russian collusion with the Trump campaign – there is no collusion. Get back to the basics and make us all proud!”
And speaking of collusion: Our president is essentially colluding with Russia RIGHT NOW. He’s doing NOTHING to prevent it from happening again … ignoring, in fact, the evidence that the Russians are already acting to interfere in the 2018 election and still using social media to disseminate fake stories to sow discord among us. Our president seems capable of attacking anyone in the world BUT Putin. Is this OK with you?
Dear Republicans, I understand your agenda is different from mine. I disagree with you on many issues, but I understand your positions on them. I cannot, for the life of me, though, understand support of the words and actions of the current occupant of the White House. It is possible to both promote your agenda AND maintain your integrity by speaking out against the leader of your party. I wish more of you would do so.
