One map does not a solution make

LEIGH-ANNE CONGDON

Mill Hall

Last week, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court gave us a new map of Congressional districts for the 2018 election.

That’s a good thing. The new map is more reasonable and fair. But it’s just one map.

It’s not a permanent solution to the problem of partisan gerrymandering.

The process needs to be changed. We need a process that is more transparent and fair with an independent citizens commission that takes the politics out of redistricting.

And we need this BEFORE the 2020 Census.

That means the bills (House Bill 722 and Senate Bill 22) that are in our state Legislature need to be heard now.
