Loved ones still with us after death

CHRISSY FRIDAY

Everyday, people lose loved ones through death.

Whether a natural, intentional, or accidental death, it leaves loved ones behind to mourn the loss.

In January 2017, I lost my Pap, the man who raised me and the only person who was a constant in my life. A year and a half later, I still have questions and haven’t made my way through the mourning process.

Typical questions early in the stages of grief relate to any suffering the loved one encountered, if they knew they were dying, were they afraid, and how can the remaining now go on without them.

Looking for comfort, I turned to a pastor, my doctor, and even Google to help answer my questions. I knew he was in Heaven, but I wanted to know if he would ever come back in this life to see me.

That answer didn’t come from any other person but him.

He’s made his presence known in many ways, many times and it seems to happen during the most difficult times when I question my purpose, feel I can’t face another thing, or feel like I have nobody.

I’ve seen him in dreams, sitting, watching silently, without saying a word. Nobody else was around, but as he sat in those bleachers a few rows back, just staring, I knew it was him saying, “I’m still here and I’m still watching you and you’re still okay.”

I’ve felt his presence in the same way as I feel a live person sitting next to me.

So to provide comfort to those mourning the loss of a loved one, yes, they are still here.

They never leave you.

They just move onto a different form until you meet again.

I hope my experiences provide comfort to someone. May God bless you and keep you safe until you find the peace you’re searching for.
