Misinformation will get you in trouble every time

JIM HIRONIMUS

White Hall

I read the letter to the editor, “Captain deserts ship,” by Jerome Abbott about Rep. Mike Hanna’s office being closed.

Your paper explained the reason for the closure. The new state representative’s staff should have told Jerome this. It was a simple mistake on Jerome’s part.

I wish Jerome would have posted the reason why he was contacting Rep. Hanna.

In speaking with Jerome last month, his goal was to gain updated information about the Central Pennsylvania Vietnam Veterans Memorial Highway that is supposed to be from Livonia to Centre Hall on Route 192.

Jerome has been a staunch advocate for veterans to correct the Miles Township Veterans Monument and how it honors Vietnam Veterans and all Veterans and service members.

As a history teacher, Jerome is well aware that history must be factual on all monuments so future generations will not get incorrect information about their ancestors.

This is why he cares!

So far as I’m concerned, this is not the case in Miles Township, as few if any care about historical correctness, even the so-called historians that were in charge of the monument show no desire to make the needed corrections? Does anyone but me find it amusing that a Vietnam Veterans Highway is going to go through the center of a municipality that, in my opinion, does not honor Vietnam Veterans correctly? I know Jerome agrees with me on this and he has the integrity and guts to speak out and demand answers. They need to correct the monument for future generations sake!
