Back in time

CHARLES REEDER

Montoursville

I attended school 50 to 60 years ago.

That would be 1959 to 1969. I can honestly say that I was educated beyond simple math. We had classes in algebra, statistics, geometry, trigonometry and calculus. I also remember being taught several different fields of science.

We studied more than U.S. history but also world history and our state history, along with civics.

English classes covered more than reading, writing, spelling and grammar it covered also world and English literature. We also had arts, music, foreign language studies. Schools at that time did not emphasize the “Golden Rule,” morals, discipline, morals.

Their concern was education. Also in 1969, computer studies were introduced in the school curriculum but on a limited basis.
