Christ, Trump and Christianity

EDWARD VAVRA

I’m disappointed in Christian priests, ministers, and Christians in general. Few of them have vigorously protested Trump’s policies against immigrant children, especially the separating them from their parents. Instead many are supporting Republicans who I believe rarely challenge Trump. Why are they ignoring (Matthew 18 KJV):

“1 At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? 2 And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them … 5 And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. 6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea … 14 Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.”

Shouldn’t these priests, ministers, and Christians in general realize that they themselves cheapen Christianity? They sometimes complain about declining participation in church.

Why should people go to a church that violates the letter and spirit of the Bible? This by itself, I believe, is sufficient reason for calling for Trump’s impeachment.
