Meaningless Meanderings

POSTED:Sat, January 26, 2008 @ 5:36PM

Blogspots

I'm a bit of a blogger. Well, I guess a bit doesn't describe it well enough. I have a variety of blogs for a variety of reasons, and I find each one interesting in it's own way.

As I mentioned, I have many reasons for blogging. One of my blogs is a bit of a journal of what I do with my life. When I have free time, or when I travel, or if something big and/or amazing is happening in my life, I post it there. During my travels, that blog was updated almost daily. It was, quite literally, my message board to the outside world to show what I saw, heard, or generally experienced.

My second blog exists out of boredom. At one point in my life, my posts were a common occurrence on many message boards. I was eventually dragged into one that was filled with people spanning the globe, speaking numerous languages (primarily English and German) and discussing a variety of topics. When a friend brought me to this site, I was given a new space for a blog. I save this one for the very rainy days; a reminder that no matter how bored I am, there is always somewhere I can write where few people in my life will see. A nice thing to have with my lifestyle.

The final blog (that I update "frequently", that is) is this blog. The purpose of this blog is still under much debate on my end. I was originally asked by a professor to join with some classmates and write about campus life. While this seemed like an easy idea, it just didn't seem to work out as planned. As a fifth year student who is preparing to graduate and lives off campus, becoming a part of the "campus community" becomes a side note to basic survival (and success in class). Besides, I am sure many of my readers would become bored with the idea of a collection of stories from Stevenson Library (where I am an employee).

"Campus Life" as a theme just wouldn't work, so I needed a new idea. I began to debate if I should make this blog a place to just talk about Lock Haven, but soon realized that I do not have much to say about this small town that has been my "home" for four years, primarily because I don't spend enough time becoming a "part" of this community. This idea was also dashed against the stones during my brainstorming.

After many failed ideas, I eventually stumbled upon the theme you all see: "Meaningless Meanderings." This is exactly what I needed; this blog is now an extension of my excessive brainstorming. As I am sure you have noticed, the posts are rather random (and have little in common with those prior to it) and seldom have any real impact on the lives of those who read them. They are, quite literally, whatever comes to my mind at any given time, whether it is a rant about the holidays or an analysis of what I see during my physical meanderings.

Now that this has all been explained, I leave you to your regularly scheduled browsing.

lockhaven.com blogger I am a 22 year old student of Lock Haven University. My major is English: Writing, and I am minoring in International Studies. This is my fifth year as a student of this University, and I will be graduating this upcoming May. I am known to play the role of "Devil's Advocate", often speaking out ideas that others are thinking but will not say, or purposely playing both sides to see how people will react. Now that you are ready, sit back and enjoy.
