Bookworm

Time to readWhen I was a college freshman, I was constantly reading. Not just books for class, but "luxury" books, and books that people had recommended or that I thought looked interesting. I remember a junior telling me in a snotty tone that she wished she had time to sit around and read like I did. When I told her that it was my choice to MAKE time for reading, she said she didn't even have time to make time. And so it went, back and forth. Now that I am a junior in college and bogged down with even more work than before, I still make time to read. And while it's more and more difficult to fit into my schedule, it's always worth it. I'm currently reading six books for myself, and two for English classes, and this doesn't include the textbooks I'm reading for other classes. I'm reading so many books at once that I can't pick one to write about because I haven't gotten very far in any of them. Sometimes I think it would be better to just read these books one at a time, but I want to read all of them NOW! So I end up reading a chapter here and a chapter there, and it's just not the same. I wish I had a week I could put aside just to catch up on my reading. Even though I just had spring break, I hardly made a dent in any of the reading I wanted to do, because I had to work! I guess this is what's it like to be an adult. But no matter what happens, at the end of a tough day nothing can cheer me up like a great book. I encourage anyone who has felt swamped with work to pick up a book, even if you don't have time. It will be worth it.
