Lady Eagles keep winning in Kutztown

May 9, 2008

KUTZTOWN — California University stranded five runners and had another four picked off on the basepaths as Lock Haven won 2-0 in Game 7 of the NCAA Division II Mid-Atlantic Regionals Thursday at North Campus Field.

Lock Haven (45-6), the No. 1 seed, advances to Game 11 where it will face Bloomsburg, a 3-1 winner over Kuztown on Thursday. Fourth-seeded California (27-17) drops into the loser’s bracket where it will face Shippensburg .

Kristin Erb struck out 10 batters over seven innings of work and limited California to four hits and one walk. She received help from her defense as two runners were thrown out at home — both in the first inning — one was caught stealing and another was picked off at first base by the catcher.

Her counterparts, pitchers Maria Greco and Sonia Petrosoniak, allowed a combined two runs on four hits and two walks.
