Beaver Cty. man charged with stealing $15,000 in coins
BEAVER, Pa. (AP) - A Beaver County man is in jail after being accused of a series of crimes, including stealing silver coins worth $15,000 from an 82-year-old woman.
Twenty-six-year-old Daniel McClune has also been accused of stealing coins from a jewelry store and going through a police officer’s car.
McClune’s story begins in early January or late February when he offered to clear the sidewalks of Mary Lou Sherry. Police say she allowed McClune to walk around her house because she has known him for years. However, it remains unclear when he actually took the 500 silver pieces.
In April, he stole four silver coins from a jeweler ad then sold them back to the shop owner for nearly $130. Finally, on Sunday, McClune was caught going through the police car.
