Wake up and listen
MARILOU EMBICK — LogantonThis is in response to a recent letter to the editor from Jill Salvo. Did Dewey Workman sell the YMCA clerk heroin? Apparently working at the YMCA wasn’t his only way of making a little money just to get by.
I don’t find it comforting to know the girl involved didn’t get any punishment out of the whole incident, but I guess almost losing your life might be enough to scare anyone to stop doing drugs and turn your life around.
You are right, I don’t know all the details, but I do know the police said your boyfriend sold her the drug and then helped her inject it. Hopefully, the fact that he saw someone almost die because of the drug will be enough to stop him from selling heroin. I really hope it happens for you and your child.
I want to see harder sentences for these dealers so maybe someday your child won’t be in danger of being in the same situation as that girl. I have lived the last eight of my life with a daughter who is an addict. She had a home and a family, but she threw it all away for drugs. She has destroyed her life and the lives of everyone who loves her. She is also in jail. Maybe if I had done something sooner, things would be different. But I will never know. You can make a difference for your child. Start fighting now.
I am just so sick and tired of all the drugs that are being distributed to our children in our very own community. They don’t have to go any further than the playground or the YMCA to buy them.
I didn’t mean to offend you with my letter, only make the right people wake up and listen.
