Catherine A. Taylor
Catherine A. Taylor, 82, of 435 Long Run Rd., Mill Hall, died Friday, May 2, 2008 at ManorCare Nursing Home, Jersey Shore.
She was born Nov. 25, 1925 in Tyrone, a daughter of the late Paul and Blanche Montgomery Thompson.
She was a 1943 graduate of Tyrone High School. In 1946, she received her nursing degree from the Lock Haven Hospital School of Nursing at Lock Haven Teachers College. She successfully completed her Registered Nursing State Exam in 1947.
She first worked for the former Teah Hospital in Lock Haven. She then worked in the office of Dr. George Treires and later Dr. Victoria Romeo. After the closing of the office, she worked as a private duty nurse. She later served as a shift supervisor with Susque-View Nursing Home, retiring in 1994.
She was an avid sports enthusiast, but most of all enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren participate in school and sporting events. She enjoyed yard sales and auctions. Throughout her life, she collected Mickey Mouse memorabilia and had an extensive collection of the beloved Disney character.
She is survived by a daughter, Kathy I. Shaffer of Mill Hall; a son, Paul M. (Deanna) of Mill Hall; a sister, Pauline Tate of Lock Haven; five grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Brett M. Shaffer.
Memorial services will be Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home Inc., 231 High St., Flemington. Private burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Mill Hall.
