Woman found dead in car Sunday night
LOCK HAVEN - City police are investigating the death of a woman found in a car parked in the lot behind the First Church of Christ Sunday night.
Police and emergency medical personnel responded to the parking area along Water Street at about 9:30 p.m. after the Clinton County Communications Center received an emergency call for "an unresponsive person" in a car at that location.
Police declined to identify the woman this morning, saying an investigation is continuing.
City Police Detective Charles Shoemaker did say there "were no visible signs of wrong doing."
Clinton County Deputy Coroner John Hanna pronounced the woman dead at the scene and said an autopsy was scheduled today at Mount Nittany Hospital in State College to determine the cause of death.
Hanna said the woman is a local resident, but also declined to identify her at this point.
The discovery of the body occurred about the same time as a concert on the floating stage just a block away was ending. That drew a more than normal crowd to the area, which was blocked off by yellow crime tape to keep bystanders back while police investigated.
