Woman identified

Cause of death still unknown

POSTED: July 22, 2008

LOCK HAVEN - A woman found dead in a parked car Sunday night has been identified. However, the cause of her death may not be known for some time.

Clinton County Deputy Coroner John Hanna said this morning the woman is Danielle Heichel, 24, whose address was listed in Avis on her driver's license.

Hanna said an autopsy was performed Monday, however the cause of death remains undetermined as officials await results of toxicology tests, which could take several weeks.

Heichel, who was employed by Lock Haven Hospital, was found dead in a car parked in the lot behind the First Church of Christ on East Water Street at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday, Hanna said.

City Police Detective Charles Shoemaker declined to release any details on the incident this morning, referring all questions to the coroner's office.

Shoemaker said Monday the initial investigation showed no signs of foul play.

Police and emergency crews were dispatched to the parking lot by the Clinton County Communications Center after an emergency call reported an "unresponsive person" in a car there.

The incident occurred at about the same time as the concert on the floating stage just about a block away was ending, sending a rather large crowd of bystanders to the scene, which was cordoned off by yellow crime tape until police completed their probe.
