Genevieve S. Bowman, 83, of 1207 Mackeyville Rd., Mill Hall, died Aug. 26, 2008 in the Lock Haven Hospital.
Born Nov. 29, 1924 in Coburn, she was a daughter of the late Charles D. and Bertha Whitmyer Gilmore.
On Sept. 13, 1941 in Elkton, Md., she married Richard C. Bowman, who survives at home.
She was a 1941 graduate of Mill Hall High School.
Mrs. Bowman worked at Sylvania Electric and Bobbi Brooks and retired as a chemist at American Color & Chemical.
She was a member of B.P.O.E. #182 Auxiliary and Salona United Methodist Church. She was a former Lamar Township tax assessor and had been actively involved in the P.T.A. in Lamar Township.
She loved to crochet and travel. For a number of years, she enjoyed assisting inmates at the county jail to learn to read.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Richard C. (Karol) Bowman Jr. of Mill Hall; two grandsons, Richard C. (Betsy) Bowman III and Robert K. (Amy) Bowman, both of Mill Hall; and four great-grandchildren, Lance, Claire, Emma and Zachary.
Services and interment will be at the convenience of the family, with no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the S.P.C.A. in care of the funeral home.
