Dean Richard Confer, 74, of Bellefonte, died peacefully at his home with friends and family on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008.
He was born in Beech Creek on Jan. 8, 1934, a son of the late Rev. Dean Beaver and Mary Kathryn Confer.
He married the former Theresa May Crowell on Aug. 2, 1958 in Accadia, Ind. She survives at home.
He was an air press operator for River Hill Coal Co. of Karthaus, then for H.R.I. of State College.
He had attended Bible Mission Church, Lock Haven.
He was an avid hunter and also enjoyed fly fishing. He also enjoyed auctions and collecting books.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Denise L. Rhoads and husband Bryan of State College and Pamela K. Confer of Mill Hall; a sister, Mary V. Pecht of Milroy; a brother, Samuel D. of Clearfield; and three grandchildren, Cameron Dean Rhoads, Brandon John and Bradley Dean Townsend.
Funeral services will be private at the family's convenience.
