Valerie Teresa Heidt, 12, of Hublersburg, passed away Friday, July 10, 2009 in a boating accident on the Susquehanna River outside of Lock Haven.
Born on March 1, 1997 in Moscow, Russia, she was the daughter of the late Kathryn R. Heidt.
Surviving is her adoptive mother Adrienne "Andi" Heidt-Nixdorf of Hublersburg and adoptive father Matthew Nixdorf of Bellefonte.

She was a student at the Bellefonte Area Middle School and was on the Distinguished Honor Roll.
Valerie was an equestrian rider for Eastwood Farms and she won numerous championships and blue ribbons. Valerie was a member of United States Equestrian Association, United States Hunter Jumper Association and Walker Township 4-H. She was a violinist in the orchestra, a member of the Select Women's Chorale, Reading Competition participant, Make a Wish Dance participant, and belonged to the Drama Club and Snow Sports Club. Valerie played basketball, golf and soccer. She liked to cook, swim, going to the beach, shopping and designing jewelry. She loved all animals, especially her horse "Tucker," who will miss his beautiful rider, and her cat Milo.
Along with her adoptive mother and father, she is survived by two brothers, Dakota Nixdorf and Finn Nixdorf of Hublersburg; a sister, Drew Nixdorf of Hublersburg; her grandparents, Joseph P. and Charlotte Heidt of Bellefonte, and Kay and Ray Nixdorf of Lancaster; her great grandfather, Joseph P. Heidt Sr. of Hublersburg; her aunt and uncle Joseph P. and Marisa Heidt of Golden, Col., and numerous other relatives and "adopted" families.
Our beautiful "Russian Princess" will sadly be missed by everyone she touched in her short, sweet life.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at the Bellefonte Area Middle School Auditorium at 1 p.m. with Rev. Frank E. Skies officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Centre County Paws, 1401 Trout Road, State College, Pa. 16801.
