SBDC?has two upcoming workshops

LOCK HAVEN - The Small Business Development Center of Lock Haven University will holding two upcoming workshops.

A "Second Step for Starting a Small Business" workshop will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sept. 23 at the LHU SBDC Main Office, 301 W. Church St., Lock Haven; and a "H1N1 Influenza-Prevention for Business & Industry" workshop will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 1 at the River Valley Room, second floor of the McDade Trade and Transit Centre at 100 W. Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701.

The "Second Step for Starting a Small Business" workshop will examine the process of transforming a business idea into a marketable product. Participants will formulate a business plan and discuss how to present it to potential investors or lenders. The focus of this class will be developing a marketing plan, mission and vision and financial projections. Also, participants will work through a sample company to learn the process of creating a final business plan.

The "H1N1 Influenza-Prevention for Business & Industry" workshop will be led by Emerge Public Safety, LLC, and will teach participants how to prepare their company for the potentially negative effects an influenza pandemic can have on a business and its workforce. Specific topics covered in the workshop will be The World Health Organization Pandemic level system, why a company needs a Pandemic Plan, what could happen if it doesn't have a plan, overview of exposure control measures and what resources are available to help prepare and continue operation.

Those encouraged to attend are human resource managers, general managers and all small business owners. Seating is limited to 30 attendees.
