LOCK HAVEN - Seventy-seven exhibitors, including 18 that will show off their services for the first time at the Clinton County Economic Partnership EXPO, will greet visitors all day tomorrow at Lock Haven University's Recreation Center.
And another first - KCnet technology center of Lock Haven - will present its brand new, remote communications platform.
This is the 26th annual EXPO, which was created to "showcase various services and highlight employment opportunities that local businesses provide," said Trish Smith, senior administrative assistant with the Partnership.
As always, most of the exhibitors have prize giveaways at their booths. And the Partnership will also be offering some prizes: Two, $100 gas cards from Sheetz made possible by sponsors WSP Chemicals and Technology, LLC, Quadel Group and Bucktail Medical Center.
"The EXPO is a great opportunity for both business owners and members of the community because we feature a little bit of everything," Smith said. "It's great exposure for the businesses and organizations, too. Where else will you have the opportunity to have 5,000 potential customers coming though?"
Each year, poster and essay contests are held for local elementary and middle school students. The essay contest, sponsored by The Express community newspaper, was open to all sixth grade students.
The poster contest, sponsored by the Clinton County Arts Council, was open for third graders.
Prizes and plaques will be awarded during opening ceremonies at about 8:45 a.m. Wednesday.
Visitors can expect to see exhibitors specializing in construction, arts and entertainment, recreation, education, lodgings, maintenance, utility, politics, personal care, Marcellus Shale and more.
"Job-seekers can also benefit from attending the EXPO. This is a chance to meet one on one with people in your field of work," Smith said.
EXPO would be very beneficial for high school students seeking employment opportunities and career choices, as well, Smith said.
The EXPO runs from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission and parking are free.
The recreation center is located along Railroad Street, just north of West Fourth Street and south of Water Street.
"Even if you have lived here all of your life, you never know what businesses may have added to their product lines," Smith said.
"We really appreciate Lock Haven University for allowing us to hold the EXPO the Rec Center. There is plenty of parking and there is easy access to the building for the exhibitors and the general public. The staff at the Rec Center is very accommodating, as are the LHU electricians, law enforcement and maintenance," said Smith.
Mill Hall Kiwanis will again be selling food at their concessions trailer.
